Mission

Respecting children. Engaging families. Encouraging thoughts. Embracing the community. Community Montessori gives children an environment that respects all people and ideas.

Montessori Gardens Activities

Our program is based on activities to allow each individual child to grow in all areas of their development. The program is based on what is developmentally appropriate for, and on observations done by the staff, on each individual child. We implements Dr. Maria Montessori different materials that allow our students to develop their physical and mental skills while maintaining a high level of self-confidence, and that is through

Practical Life Exercises In this area

children develop their coordination and motor skills while becoming absorbed in everyday activities. They become confident, independent, and gradually lengthen their span of concentration. They also learn to pay attention to details as they follow a regular sequence of actions. Finally, they learn good work habits as they finish each task and put materials away before beginning another activity. In this area kids also learn personal habits and self hygiene. Tools that are used: Beads, pegs, dressing frames, trays, tweezers, funnels……etc.

Sensorial

Exercises A young child meets the world around him through the constant use of all his senses. Since he quite naturally uses all his powers of observation during his/her early  years. The sensorial materials in the classroom help children to distinguish, to categorize, and to relate new information to what they already know. Tools that r used: Pink tower, broad stairs, color boxes, smell jars,

knobbles cylinders…etc

Math

Children learn to identify the numbers 0 - 10 using sandpaper numbers, many different "manipulative" such as chips, buttons, and lids are used to count and to match quantity with the written numeral.

Tools that are used: Splendid box, sand papers, red rods etc

Language

Children are introduced to letter sounds through the sandpaper letters. They trace each letter as they say its sound ("ssssssss" for "S"). Later they start putting these sounds together to form words with the moveable alphabet

At the same time paper, markers, colored and regular pencils, crayons are provided so that children can constantly use their writing and drawing skills to express themselves.

Geography

Kids are first shown a globe with the land masses coated with sandpaper and the water painted blue and smooth to the touch. This gives them a tactile introduction to the continents. This is followed by work with the world map puzzle. They learn the names of each continent and note the differences in size and shape

Cultural Awareness

The children gain an awareness of the world around them by exploring other countries; their customs, food, music, climate, language, and animals. This helps to raise the children’s awareness about other people, and to gain an understanding and tolerance, and therefore compassion, for all people of the world.
